Ever Wonder Where Your PTSA Dollars Go?
At times it seems like all we do is ask for money. Instead, let's talk about how the PTSA has spent this money over the past several year. During the 2006-2007 school year, PTSA initiated a technology campaign. As a result, the association was able to provide the school with approximately $31, 000. With these funds, we were able to replace all of the outdated and inoperable computers and refresh the computer lab with twenty-seven Dell Desktop Computers, a Dell Laptop Computer, a mounted LCD Projector and screen, a webcam, and digital camera. This has increased the excellence in the technological services and instruction that we are able to provide to our students and teachers.
To further enhance technology and the services provided to students, staff, parents, and community, the PTSA funded the installation of a mounted LCD Projector and screen in the cafeteria/auditorium which is used to provide whole group, grade level instruction to students, for student assemblies, PTSA Programs and orientations, community forums, and professional training for staff. Additionally, the PTSA donated funds for the purchase of SMART Boards to be used interactively by teachers and students. Furthermore, for the 2008-2009 school year, the PTSA donated a total of $11,580.00. These funds were used to purchase 6 Smart Boards.
For the 2009-2010 school year, the PTSA donated $15,104.98. The bulk ($11,126.90) of these funds were used to purchase additional technological equipment and other instructional materials (5 document cameras, 4 student response systems, 10 head phones, 35 mouse pads, Type to Learn Site License, and 500 handwriting books). The balance, $3,978.10, was used to purchase drums to be used by our music department for instruction on the music standards.
For the 2010-2011 school year, the PTSA donated $14,809.00. These funds were used to purchase additional document cameras giving more teachers access to this useful tool and offering students the benefit of enhanced instruction. As mentioned earlier, handwriting books have already been purchased for students in K-1. To offer all of our primary students the same benefit 300 additional handwriting books were purchased for students in grade 2-3. To continue our focus on increased learning for all students in all subject areas, the PTSA purchased the site license for First in Math Online Program which we feel may have attributed to
97% of our students meeting or exceeding the standards in math. Furthermore, the PTSA purchased 2 laminating machines and licenses for Scholastic Reading Inventory and Learning A-Z.
